Messi had been taken out by Ronald Koeman during the game against Granada last weekend, but what seemed to be a minor problem back then has now forced the player out of the key game.
Barcelona enter this tournament trying to win their first title since 2019. Los Culés were unable to win any silverware last year, and winning the Super Cup would be a good omen for the club if they want to end that title drought.
