Lionel Messi made two goals to contribute to Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory over Los Angeles, the defending champion of the American Professional Football League, and extended an unbeaten streak for his team in 11 matches in all competitions since the arrival of the Argentine star, in a club record.
Messi gave two assists to Jordi Alba, his former Barcelona colleague, and Leonardo Campana in the second half, after Facundo Farias opened the scoring for Inter in the 14th minute.
This is Inter’s second victory in three league matches against one draw after Messi’s arrival last July, who led the team to crown the Mexican-American League title.
Among the most prominent attendees in the stands in Los Angeles to watch the match was British Prince Harry, along with Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Owen Wilson, singer Selena Gomez and comedian Will Ferrell, a member of the group that owns the Los Angeles club.
Inter Miami is still penultimate in the Eastern Division, while Los Angeles ranks third in the West.
