Lionel Messi heaps praise after qualifying for 2022 World Cup quarter-finals, Australian coach: Argentina must be proud to have a player like him! : Okezone ball

AR RAYAN – Star player Argentina national team, Lionel Messia flood of praise after successfully leading his team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. One of them came from Australia’s national team coach, Graham Arnold, who said Argentina should be proud to have a talented player like Lionel Messi.

As is known, Argentina successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup. This certainty was achieved after they beat Australia with a score of 2-1 in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

The match took place at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Ar Rayyan, Qatar on Sunday (4/12/2022) early morning WIB. The two goals against Australia were scored by Messi (35′) and Julian Alvarez (57′).

Meanwhile, the goal for the Socceroos – nicknamed the Australian national team – was scored by an own goal from Enzo Fernandez. He put the ball into his own net in the 77th minute.

After the match, Arnold praised Messi highly. The reason is that the player nicknamed La Pulga was considered to have played very well indeed and in that match he proved to be crowned Man of the Match.

Arnold said his team tried to focus during the game. However, the attempt failed as Socceroos players were amazed by Messi’s aura.

“He (Messi) is extraordinary. One of the biggest,” Arnold said, quoted by ESPN, Sunday (12/4/2022).

“We really worked hard not to be in awe of him, because he’s a great player. But wow, he’s fantastic,” he continued.

The 59-year-old coach admitted he was very lucky to be able to face two superstars from La Albiceleste – the nickname of the Argentina national team – in his career. Arnold said, Argentina should be proud to have a great player like Messi.

“I had the privilege of playing against Diego Maradona and now coaching against Messi. They are both extraordinary players.”

“Argentina should be very proud and happy to have a player of that caliber,” said Arnold.

With that loss, Australia had to lift their bags from the 2022 World Cup. Meanwhile, La Albiceleste, continued to advance through to the quarter-finals.

In the quarterfinals, Argentina will face a formidable opponent, namely the Netherlands. The match will take place at Lusail Stadium, Doha, Qatar on Saturday 10th December 2022.
