JAKARTA Lionel Messi experience stomach flu or recent gastroenteritis. This condition makes Messi absent from training before the game Paris Saint Germain (PSG) vs Nice some time ago.

The stomach flu experienced by Messi himself can be experienced by anyone. The disease was explained by an Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Jeff Aloys, which is inflammation or irritation of the intestines which turns out to be self-limiting.

However, patients need to seek doctor’s help if their health condition worsens. “Stomach flu can even be deadly if the immune system weakens,” said Dr. Jeff Aloys, quoted from his personal Instagram, Monday (12/13/2021).

Stomach flu and influenza have different symptoms. This is also because the location of the virus attacking the body is different between stomach flu and influenza in the respiratory area.

Symptoms of the stomach flu described by Dr. Jeff include diarrhea with or without mucus or blood, abdominal pain and cramps, nausea or vomiting, muscle aches or headaches, and low-grade fever.

According to Dr. Jeff, the causes of stomach flu are divided into two, namely non-infectious and infectious effects. In the situation of stomach flu that causes non-infectious causes are food allergies, drug side effects, poisoning. While the causes of stomach flu that cause infection include viruses (Norovirus, Rotavirus), bacteria (Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Shigela, E.coli), parasites (Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and Entamoeba).
