Lionel Messi’s trophy cabinet must be extremely full. Maybe that’s why he gave away one of his countless awards.
Won World Cup and Copa America. Four-time Champions League winner. Ten Spanish league titles, soon possibly for the second time in Ligue 1 at the top. Seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. Lionel Messi really can’t complain about not having won enough in his glorious career.
Especially since the above list is far from complete. Among other things, there are countless other individual awards – for example, during his time at FC Barcelona, Messi was named player of the season in LaLiga nine times.
However, the 35-year-old Argentinian does not keep all nine trophies for this at home, one is definitely missing from this collection. This is because she has a teammate from the national team and ex-player at Paris Saint-Germain.
Because Messi gave away one of his awards for the award for the best LaLiga player to Leandro Paredes. With the midfielder – loaned to Juventus by PSG this season – Messi appears together for Argentina, and Paredes was also there for the World Cup triumph in December.
Messi presented one of his trophies to Paredes
The 28-year-old recently opened the doors of his apartment in Turin to journalists. And the award, which actually does not belong to him, attracted attention.
“When he (Messi, ed.) came to Paris, I asked him if he could give it to me and he just did it,” explained Paredes.
In the future, however, he will probably only see Messi in the national team again. And not just because ‘La Pulga’ are expected to leave PSG in the summer. Because Paredes himself still has a contract in Paris until 2024, but could also stay with Juventus beyond the loan deal.
