KOMPAS.com – FC Barcelona’s dream of bringing Lionel Messi home has vanished. The Argentina national team captain chose to move to the United States after receiving an offer from Inter Miami CF.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Inter Miami, was Lionel Messi’s choice to continue his career.
Messi made Inter Miami his new port after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expired.
In his statement, Messi chose Inter Miami not because of the high salary offered by David Beckham’s football club.

“I will join Inter Miami. The decision is 100 percent,” Messi said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo via Fabrizio Romano.
“The truth is that this is my final decision, to go elsewhere and not for the money,” added the 35-year-old forward.
Messi explained, if he chose a large salary, he could have chosen Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabian League.
The owner of seven Ballon d’Or trophies also revealed that Barcelona had never made an official offer to him.
“Money has never been a problem for me. We didn’t even discuss a contract with Barcelona! They sent me a proposal, but it was never an official proposal, written and signed.”
“We never negotiated my salary. It’s not about money. Otherwise, I would have joined a Saudi Arabian club,” Messi explained.

There are those who don’t want Messi to return to Barca
Lionel Messi, the original product of Barcelona’s pride, served at Camp Nou for 17 seasons. Barca’s financial problems and internal intrigues forced Messi to leave the club he loved.
Messi said, he also has a dream to return to Barcelona. However, according to him, there are people at Barca who do not want him to return to Camp Nou.
