Andrés Iniesta can understand Lionel Messi’s rejection of their former club FC Barcelona. The Argentine world champions opted not to return to the Catalans and opted for Inter Miami in the MLS after quitting camp at Paris Saint-Germain.
Iniesta said DAZN on Messi’s possible return to Barcelona: “That would have been nice, something special. But in the end everyone chooses the best option for them. What they think is best.” He added: “If this is what he’s looking forward to, what he wanted, then that’s going to work out just fine.”
Messi left his youth club FC Barcelona in 2021, as he couldn’t agree on a new contract with the financially struggling Catalans. After two years at Paris Saint-Germain, he is now joining Beckham’s Inter Miami in the MLS.
