Lionel Messi wanted to go out to eat with his family near Buenos Aires. But nothing came of a cozy evening.
WHAT HAPPENED? Lionel Messi has sparked riots while visiting a restaurant in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires. Several dozen fans welcomed the star striker from Paris Saint-Germain, who is currently in his home country due to the international break.
This went so far that the captain of the Albiceleste had trouble leaving the Don Julio bar. Too many fans wanted a selfie with Messi and completely blocked the exit. Finally, the police had to escort the world footballer out of the restaurant.
WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND? While there was criticism of Messi in France after PSG’s defeat in the Champions League, his heroic status in Argentina after winning the World Cup in Qatar is unbroken.
