Unexpectedly, Lionel Messi prevailed against the clear favorite Erling Haaland, although the 36-year-old was only able to win two titles in the period from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023. Haaland won the treble with Manchester City in the same period and also scored significantly more goals.
