Lionel Messi helped fuel the “greatest of all time” debate on Sunday when he broke one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive records.
Messi scored the only goal of the match in Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 win over Lyon.

The goal, set by Neymar, maintained PSG’s initial unbeaten run in the Ligue 1 season and maintained the two-point lead at the top of the table.
The Argentine star has now scored four goals in eight Ligue 1 matches this season and is already on track to surpass his disappointing total of just six last season.
Roles have been reversed between him and career rival Ronaldo this season, with the latter scoring only once in eight games in all competitions.
This contrasts with the 24 goals scored in the 2021/22 season.
This subdued start to Ronaldo’s 2022/23 season allowed Messi to break one of his records.
The goal against Lyon added 672 penalty-free goals during his professional career, surpassing his rival’s 671 total.
