Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi and Real Madrid striker Racheal Kundananji have been named winners of the 2023 GOAL50 Awards. They prevailed in a head-to-head race voted on by fans from all over the world.
Messi wins the award for the seventh time, beating out Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Kevin De Bruyne, while Asisat Oshoala, Linda Caicedo, Tabitha Chawinga and Lauren James took the women’s places behind Kundananji.
It was no surprise that Messi dominated his head-to-head after another outstanding year, while Kundananji was recognized by voters for her outstanding debut season at Real Madrid and her historic contribution to the Zambian national team. Find out more about this year’s winners below.
