World champion Lionel Messi has left his possible retirement from Argentina’s national football team open. “Even I don’t know when,” the 36-year-old said in an interview on Argentinian television broadcast on Wednesday: “It will happen when it happens. Logically, given my age, you would expect it to be soon, but I know not sure.”
Instead of worrying about his future, Messi prefers to celebrate the recent achievements with the Albiceleste. “Now that we are American champions (Copa America; ed.) and world champions, we have to enjoy it,” said the national team captain.
At club level, however, Messi’s next step has been clarified. He has been in the USA since Tuesday, and the 36-year-old is to be officially presented as a new signing from Inter Miami on Sunday.
