Peugeot Sport has put his hand to the range of electrified sports vehicles of the lion firm. The result? The PSE versions, acronym for Peugeot Sport Engineered. The first model to release this denomination is the 508 that you have on screen, a vehicle that combines high performance, driving pleasure and low emissions. A radical, ultra-sporty and electrified version of Peugeot’s top-of-the-range saloon, which is already recognizable at first glance. To begin with, its bodywork sports the exclusive kryptonite color and it sports the new Peugeot logo. It is combined with the black color certain elements and with yellow touches that appear in the brake calipers, in the front air intakes and in the monograms of the C-pillar and the front bumper.
The interior appears in black and also incorporates numerous details in yellow: inserts on the steering wheel, on the touch screen, on the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit or on the stitching of the seats and the dashboard. The most interesting thing for lovers of sportiness and dynamism is what the Peugeot 508 PSE keeps under the hood. It is a model that uses a plug-in hybrid motorization, made up of three engines: a 1.6 petrol engine with 200 CV, an electric one with 100 CV coupled to the e-EAT8 automatic transmission and a third also electric connected to the rear axle, and which provides another 100 additional CV. The last two are connected to an 11.8 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. The end result is a marvelous version of no less than 360 hp and 520 Newton meters. With these mechanical credentials it goes without saying that its performance is impressive and places it in the category of sports cars, although without losing its character as an ecological vehicle since, according to the brand, it emits 46 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
It reaches a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour and manages to accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 5.2 seconds. The Peugeot Sport engineers have modified the chassis and various elements to give the car a greater dynamism and control. To begin with, reinforcements have been introduced to improve the rigidity of the chassis, work has been done on the suspension system, the height of the body has been lowered and the steering has been touched to make it much more direct.
For the best control on the road, the 508 PSE is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, which combined with its specific braking system with 380mm discs on the front axle and four-piston calipers, make for an unrivaled driving experience. Offers five driving modes: Electric that allows you to move in purely electric mode for 42 km; Comfort to relax adaptive suspension and drivetrain behavior; Hybrid to optimize the energy efficiency of the hybrid drive system; Sport to obtain the maximum performance of its mechanical and for wheel drive assembly, which forces the operation of the all-wheel drive system for situations with low grip. In the thermal range of the PEUGEOT 508, its closest benchmark is the GT Pack version, equipped with the 225 hp PureTech petrol engine.
