Lion Air Boss Worries that Jakarta’s PSBB Total Impacts on the Aviation Industry Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Lion Air Group President Director Edward Sirait said he was worried that the tightening of the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in DKI Jakarta would have an impact on the aviation industry.

This was said by the man who is familiarly called Edo in a webinar held by SSS Talks with the theme Traveling in the New Habit Adaptation Era on Thursday (10/9/2020).

“Frankly, (worry) is certain. We are also calculating, starting from the office to the possibility of changes in the market, “said Edo.

Even so, Edo admitted that he had not received any information regarding the closure of flights due to the tightening of the PSBB which was to be carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

“Until now, we have not (received information), but we analyzed it from the initial PSBB. So what we see is that the policies between regions will influence each other or not, that’s a factor of people going to travel or abandoning their intention, “said Edo.

Edo also hopes that the tightening of the PSBB in Jakarta will not affect flights to other areas.

“So with DKI deciding on PSBB whether there is (impact) to other areas, so hopefully not there. It’s just possible that health protocols are tightened. But we are still waiting for more details, “he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan finally pulled the emergency brake by rigorously reimposing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).

The implementation of the PSBB, such as the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, will start on September 14, 2020 ?, replacing the transitional PSBB that has been implemented by DKI since last June 5.

“There are not many options for Jakarta, except to pull the emergency brake as soon as possible,” Anies said in a press conference broadcast on the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s Youtube channel, Wednesday (9/9/2020) night.

The decision to re-implement the PSBB had to be taken due to several considerations. Starting from the death rate due to Covid-19, to the availability of beds in isolation rooms and ICU rooms that are running low in Jakarta.

So, starting next Monday, a number of community activities will be limited by the obligation to implement a work from home system.

In addition, other policies that were also enforced were strict restrictions on public transportation to limit the movement of citizens, and temporarily abolishing the odd-even rule for vehicles.
