The singer Lio is Aurélie Casse’s guest on the show C the weekly on France 5 this Saturday January 6 and spoke out on the affair that everyone – or almost – is talking about: the Depardieu affair. The actor has been at the heart of all discussions since the broadcast of the documentary Further investigationin which he can be heard saying sexist and obscene words.
Lio, known for her commitment to women, did not mince his words when speaking about this matteras we can see in an extract posted on social networks. “I just regret that this old world still has so much power. Because to me, they are buffoons”she said, adding about the actor Patrick Chesnais who defended Gérard Depardieu by signing the platform in particular: “He is right, my friend, when he says: ‘Il [Patrick Chesnais, NDLR] is too senile to hold a pen, but not enough to keep his mouth shut.’“
Lio drives home the point about the artistic community
Lio recalled the sequence of Further investigation that everyone talks about and has keen to point out that the problem was deeper : “We cannot reduce the words of Gérard Depardieu, and the whole Depardieu affair, to the fact that he is talking about the rubbing of the clitoris of a 10-year-old girl who is too far away to hear him.” Patrick Chesnais had claimed that the sequence with the little girl was not “not so serious”. For the 61-year-old singer, it is a more global problem that must be addressed: “It’s all that we have been able to do on a set for years, with the complicity of an entire community, which is in question today. These are unacceptable behaviors that destroy. I was a victim, I’m not the only one“, she confided. Refusing to give names, the mother of six concluded: “Everyone knows and no one says anything.” Internet users were touched by the artist’s words, since many of them commented on the sequence. “I have deep respect for this great lady. I adore Lio”, “Heart to Lio who I adore!”, “Well done and thank you Lio. You speak correctly”, “I love Lio for his outspokenness” or “It’s Lio’s turn to send the old world flying into the ropes. Another knockout for the patriarchy!” they notably wrote. Lio definitely never leaves anyone indifferent.
