The battle to determine the best soccer player in the world has been a recurring theme for more than a decade.
Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the debates dozens and dozens of times.
But for the Dominican public, who follow football, there is no doubt who is the favorite.
Argentine Lionel Messi dominated, by far, the sports poll conducted in the Sports section of diariolibre.com, which had 4,459 participants.
Messi received 48.18 percent of the votes cast for soccer players in the measurement made by Free Journal, compared to 23.36 percent of the votes that Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo received.
In the third place of the voting appeared the Spanish Sergio Ramos, with 4.36 percent.

Favorite team
In the same way that Messi, the player with the 555 million euro contract, is the favorite of the Dominicans, so too, Barcelona FC is the preferred organization of the people of Querétaro.
50.71 percent of Dominicans have Barça as their favorite club.
Its 26 La Liga championships, 30 Copas del Rey, five Champions League championships, among many other titles, have Barcelona as a favorite.
In a distant second place, Real Madrid appears, with 27.86 percent, while Juventus, from Italy, stands out in third position (obviously due to the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo), with 7.14 percent.

Among the readers of Free Journal who prefer American football over another sport, Tom Brady is the favorite player, with 30.36% of the preference; Aaron Rodgers is second, with 19.64%; while Patrick Mahomes comes out in third place, with 16.07%.
It is recalled that in MLB, Fernando Tatis Jr., of the San Diego Padres, led the preference of the Dominicans
The young shortstop, who recently signed a 14-year, $ 340 million contract, was accompanied by Albert Pujols of the Los Angeles Angels, who will play his final season of a 10-year, $ 240 million contract in 2021, and Juan Soto, of the Washington Nationals, in the same order, as the players most followed by the Quisqueyanos.
In NBA basketball, LeBron James, of the Los Angeles Lakers, appeared as the main figure of that league, and was accompanied by Stephen Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, and Kevin Durant, of the Brooklyn Nets.
The measurement, among the players in the ice hockey league (NHL), only included two names by two fans: Mikael Granlund, and Brad Marchand, one vote both.
