Linzers face three years imprisonment for “Corona hug” – Upper Austria

A 71-year-old is on trial in Linz on Wednesday. He had left the house in quarantine, “deliberately endangering” a rescuer.

The Linzer is accused of having left the house during his quarantine on November 30th. On the street he suddenly fell on the sidewalk, the rescue had to come and help the 71-year-old.

But although the man knew that he had Corona – the authorities are said to have informed him about it on November 26th – he is said to have tried to hug a paramedic – why, according to the indictment, remains open.

Man wanted to get medication

The 71-year-old justified his “excursion” into the fresh air as follows: He went out to get medication for his asthma. He was aware that he was sick.

On Wednesday, the man will be tried at the Linz Regional Court for deliberately endangering people from communicable diseases. There is a risk of imprisonment of up to three years.
