Linz triumphs 4-2 in Stockerau

It was not until yesterday, Sunday, that Stockerau was able to write in full for the first time in the new year with the 4-1 victory over a weakened Oberwart team. If you were the only team to have a flawless record in the regular round in the old year, it got cracks with the turn of the year. The 2: 4 against Linz is the third defeat in four games in 2021.

Samuel Kaluzny and Lubomir Pistej laid the foundation stone for victory right from the start. Kaluzny acted confidently against Maciej Kolodziejczyk and only made one set. Pistej was already leading 2-0 in sets against Chen Weixing, but then lost set 3 10:12 and set 4 9:11. The Slovak kept his nerve and finally won the decisive set 11: 6.

Only Oleksandr Didukh on position 3 could then write for Stockerau for the first time, defeating Zhenlong Liu 3-0 without any problems. But in the doubles, the Linzer were immediately on the word again. With their 3-0 victory, Pistej / Liu ensured a comfortable 3-1 lead and already had the victory in mind.

Kolodziejczyk initially thwarted this with his remarkable 3-2 triumph over Lubomir Pistej, the current number 68 in the world rankings. Chen Weixing then threw everything into the balance again, but had to admit defeat to Samuel Kaluzny in three tight sets.

Linz celebrates its fifth win of the season and is getting closer to the semi-finals.
