Linz Tourismus: City of character on the rise

Tourism in Linz is up and running. After the all-time high in 2019 with 934,944 overnight stays in Linz tourism businesses and a severe pandemic-related slump in 2021, more than 50,000 overnight stays were already registered in March 2022 – and the trend is rising. This year, 84,774 paying overnight guests were counted in the state capital in June, which is more than in the same month of 2018. The balance for the first half of the year in Linz tourism is very pleasing with 356,105 overnight stays (404,699 including the Ansfelden and Kirchschlag region). The guests come to the “UNESCO City of Media Arts” Linz mainly from Austria and Germany.

Successful “Linz is Linz” campaign

“The strategic further development of Linz tourism in response to the corona pandemic is showing success. With the ‘Linz is Linz’ campaign, we aroused the curiosity of many who are now visiting us. The courage to consciously dare something new with Linz authenticity, a lot of humor and without worn-out clichés has paid off,” says Tourism Director Georg Steiner, convinced of the multi-award-winning campaign with more than a million web views, 5,000 comments and 34,500 likes. “Linz is simply the perfect size for a relaxing time and at the same time offers everything you could wish for in a city,” adds Manfred Grubauer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Linz Tourismus.
