Linz-Steg Volleyball Team Claims Victory in Women’s Austrian Volley League (AVL) Championship

The Linz-Steg volleyball team successfully defended their title in the women’s Austrian Volley League (AVL). Salzburg’s Lilly Hager received the trophy as captain.

The Upper Austrians prevailed 3-1 (18-23, 20-16) at VB NÖ Sokol/Post in Vienna on Thursday evening and also won the “best of five” final series 3-1. The steel volleys celebrated their fourth title after 2019, 2021 and 2022. Libera Lilly Hager from Bürmoos was part of all triumphs , who also won four cups and one Supercup. Bojana Ubiparip from Neumarkt was also in the championship squad for the second time after 2022.

“Our emotional state could not be better,” said the happy Lilly Hager. “It was very competitive today. It might not have been our best game, but we stuck together as a team. Our service and the sideout were crucial.”

Last year, the women from Linz, who also won the Supercup and Cup, celebrated a 3-1 final triumph on April 27th. Coach Facundo Morando’s team won the first set without any problems, but Sokol/Post made it exciting again with the equalizer. In the end, Linz-Steg made the decision with a 10-0 run.
