They are a nuisance to many in the pre-election period, but after the election they disappeared as quickly as they came: mobile posters and triangular stands that are supposed to make people want to vote all over the city. Our challenge: a 30-minute “poster rally” across Linz, on which we counted which party placed the most stands. Unsurprisingly, the mayor’s party is ahead.
There is hardly a Linz intersection where you cannot find several party posters in A0 (84x119cm) format. In some places you are downright struck by the triangular stands. We set up a counting team and drove across the city for half an hour – from Urfahr via the Kaplanhof district via the Bindermichl to Kleinmünchen. The tick list that was created produces three clear winners, which are not surprising – at least that’s what the visual impression that many have gained in the last few days and weeks:
With the SPÖ, the party that has the greatest financial resources for the election campaign is most strongly present in public space. It was not surprising for our counting team that the SPÖ has a massive presence, especially in its core areas such as Spallerhof or Bindermichl.
Surprisingly in second place on our tour: the Greens (17 posters), who want to give the spin in terms of climate an additional push – or do you want to play it safe due to the lack of tailwind from Vienna?
Closely behind: the ÖVP (16), which also appears relatively massively in public space. The FPÖ is also still in the double-digit range (12 triangular stands discovered). NEOS (9), KPÖ (6) and the new list LINZplus (4) follow in the bottom three places.
The actual total number of posters varies, of course, but our tour gives a relatively good impression of the posters used. If you don’t believe it: Get in the car and make your own! ????
