LINZ. The Corona crisis is affecting the economy worldwide and also poses challenges for companies in Linz. However, many municipal support measures such as the waiver of fees for pavement gardens and shopping baskets or rental and leasing regulations for business and club premises have already expired or will expire shortly. The Linz ÖVP will therefore submit an application for Corona aid at the next municipal council meeting on Thursday, March 4th.
When the corona pandemic broke out at the beginning of 2020, the city of Linz reacted immediately and launched many support measures for entrepreneurs, says Vice Mayor and Economic Advisor Bernhard Baier (ÖVP): “These act in addition to the overriding Corona decided by the federal and state government – Funding and must therefore be continued until the opening of the companies is ensured ”. Baier means, for example, the retroactive waiver of the air tax for 2020, the waiver of fees for pub gardens and shopping baskets and the waiver of the city of rent and lease regulations for business and club premises. The measures were limited in time, have already expired or will do so shortly.
Baier: “Getting entrepreneurs through the crisis in the best possible way”
“It must be our declared goal to continue to bring the companies in our city through the crisis as well as possible. We hope for broad support from the other groups so that the aid reaches the affected companies as quickly as possible, ”emphasizes Baier. The Linz People’s Party submitted a corresponding motion for the municipal council meeting on Thursday, March 4th. The members of the city senate are requested to examine the continuation or reintroduction of the city’s aid measures for the Linz economy and to adapt them to any changed circumstances. For example, the currently applicable federal and state corona subsidies should be taken into account.
