The new season is just around the corner and there will be spectators in the halls again. But for all those who stay at home it will be dark this year. Especially with the teams that do not offer streams. This now also includes the Black Wings Linz.
Sky has withdrawn from the ice hockey broadcast, only Puls24 remains in the boat as a TV partner and will always broadcast a live game on Fridays.
This means that there will be fewer games for the fans outside of the halls this year, so it would only be obvious to expand the live stream service.
But it’s going in exactly the opposite direction. There was no agreement within the league, now each club has decided for itself whether to stream its home games or not – with the exception of the Puls24 live game, of course.
It has been clearly declared in relation to this. for example the VSV, which will deliver all home games to the living room. The KAC is still thinking about it and only wants to show selected games live.
The same decision has now been made in Linz. The Black Wings will not offer the service, so live games from Linz can only be seen when Puls24 is broadcasting.
Why are the clubs acting so cautiously here? Linz manager Gregor Baumgartner gets to the point when he says that you want to get the fans into the hall.
There is too much concern that a service that costs the club a lot of money for production will result in fewer fans in the hall.
On the other hand, P2P streams, stream advertising range and other aspects would also have some advantages. Naturally, the clubs weigh these advantages and disadvantages differently and the fans have to take what is offered to them.
