Linus Videll leaves Södertälje.
Instead, games await in Östersund.
Södertälje has suffered another heavy loss of players for next season.
After the point king, also the league’s MVP, Marcus Eriksson previously chose to take an SHL chance in Skellefteå, it is now clear that another seasoned key piece is leaving the team.
Via its website informs Södertälje that there will be no continuation in the club for Linus Videll.
– It has been a very difficult decision to make and a very long process. My family and I have made a decision that we believe is the best for our family. SSK means and always will mean a lot to me, says Videll in a statement on the club’s website.
Signing a two-year contract with Östersund
Instead, games await in hockey Allsvenska competitor Östersund next season, the Allsvenskan club confirms via social media. Videll has signed a two-year contract with last season’s runner-up in the Hockeyallsvenskan.
The 39-year-old forward was named the Hockeyallsvenskan’s most valuable player in the 2022/23 season, when he collected 57 points in 42 games for Södertälje. This season, he scored 35 points in the regular season and was limited to just 30 games due to injury concerns.
– It is sad to leave SSK and it feels bitter to do so without playing playoff hockey properly, not being able to give back to the fans. All the love they have given me, I have been treated extremely well during the years I have been in SSK and I have really felt their love. I will miss SSK, that’s how it is, says Videll.
MVP in the HockeyAllsvenskan, a total of 12 seasons and over 350 points in Sweden’s two highest leagues, we can continue.
Linus Videll has signed for two years in the green-yellow jersey! ✍🏻
