The professor of Epidemiology, Athina Linou, said that she is not worried that any health problem can be caused to the people who were vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s Covidshield.
Athena Linou made this statement after the company’s decision to withdraw the formulation in question, but also the noise it caused.
However, she emphasized that “the problem is that some people, especially women under the age of 40, ran into some risk when they got the vaccine. Which was for a small number of people who reacted negatively and had the side effect of blood clots. Now the majority of those who took AstraZeneca were protected from the risk of getting sick. And therefore there is no reason for further concern for those who were vaccinated and had no side effects.”
At the same time, he continued that “the only thing that makes me bitter personally is that a month after people started to be vaccinated abroad, there was information that this vaccine was better given to people older than 50, who did not present there increased problem of blood clots. When people started to be vaccinated in Greece, both the Commission and the State insisted that young people be vaccinated with this vaccine.”
“There were several incidents of complications and there were three very serious incidents that led to death, three women,” said Athena Linou. While he added that “what I said then, and now is that since there were other vaccines in Greece, it would be better to choose and give the right to choose another vaccine to young people”.
