Lino Nava, guitarist of ‘La Lupita’, dies – El Financiero

Lino Nava, guitarist, producer and member of the band La Lupita died after allegedly suffering from problems last Friday, May 3, due to the cancer he had been suffering from for a few years.

The Ministry of Culture of Mexico City confirmed the news of the death of the member of La Lupita.

“The Ministry of Culture of Mexico City regrets the death of the Mexican musician, composer and producer, Lino Nava at the age of 55.

We extend our condolences to his professional colleagues, friends and family. Rest in peace,” confirmed the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City.

Bassist Alonso Arreola reported the news through his social networks, where he sent a message about the member’s death.

“Carnalazo linen. See you in the afterlife. Thanks for the conversation and the echo. Kiss as always. Rock on!”, expressed Arreola in his X profile.

Who is Lino Nava, founder of La Lupita?

Lino Nava was born in Mexico City on December 25, 1968 and since he was a child he was part of various music courses taught by Hebe Rossell and Guillermo Briseño.

Additionally, he participated in dramatic art workshops with Laura Esquivel, Alfonso Arau and Héctor Azar. Lino was part of various theater productions.

In 1987 he entered the Faculty of Political Sciences of the UNAM, where he studied Sociology, at the same time he took a degree in Composition at the Center for Musical Research and Studies. (ICES).

In 1988 he founded his first band Raxas, until three years after he created La Lupita, where he showed his musical skills on the guitar with the following albums

  • How beautiful almost everything in 1994
  • Three-D in 1996
  • Solid Candy in 1998
  • Lupitology in 2004.

How did the group La Lupita start?

La Lupita began her career in the world of music in 1991 and a year later, Lino won the ‘Sol de Neón’ award as best guitarist of the year.

In 1992 they won the ‘ Nuestro Rock ‘ award for best new group in 1992 and created their first music videos on the MTV Latin channel.

La Lupita has a 33-year career, where he was still active.
