“Links do not protect against anti-Semitic conspiracy theories” – SWR Aktuell

At the demonstrations of the lateral thinking movement, which are currently taking place all over Germany, supporters of the esoteric are always represented. United in their rejection of compulsory vaccination – of whatever kind – and other corona measures, they apparently protest without hesitation alongside right-wing extremists and conspiracy theorists. The social scientist Nora Fine Pösl from the Ruhr University Bochum has examined the relationship between esotericism and right-wing ideologies. In particular, she recognizes three intersections. One thing they have in common, for example, is the strict rejection of scientific methodology, which would be interpreted as system-compliant dogma. According to Pösl, anyone who thinks this way cannot be convinced by scientific hypotheses reviews. In addition, one thing is clear: “Links in no way protect against anti-Semitic conspiracy theories”. In an interview with SWR Aktuell moderator Florian Rudolph, the social scientist reports on other similarities that connect the esoteric and the extreme right in the pandemic.
