Linkin Park reunites seven years after singer Chester Bennington’s death

On Thursday night, the band launched a livestream featuring new singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, who will join original band members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn in the new Linkin Park. Shinoda and Armstrong share vocal duties.

The group presented a new single, The Emptiness Machineduring the broadcast. Armstrong’s performance style comfortably continues the band’s legacy: his rich vocals are reminiscent of Bennington’s without attempting to parody it and were immediately highlighted during the second song of the broadcast: Somewhere I Belong.

The rock group also announced that a new album, From Zerowill be released on November 15.

Linkin Park was one of the most popular bands of the 2000s, thanks in part to Bennington’s vocals. At the age of 41, he took his own life shortly after the release of the band’s last album, One More Light.

Since then, Linkin Park has released a number of reissues, including 20th anniversary editions of Hybrid Theory et MeteorThis year, the group presented their greatest hits collection, Papercuts.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both those humble beginnings and the journey we are currently on,” Shinoda said in a statement announcing the release of the new album.

Armstrong comes from the alternative rock band Dead Sara and Brittain is a songwriter and producer who has worked with Papa Roach, One OK Rock and All Time Low, among others. He replaces original drummer Rob Bourdon, who “has decided to step down,” a representative for the band told The Associated Press.

The band also announced the world tour From Zeroincluding five arena concerts in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London and Seoul this month, and a sixth in November in Bogotá, Colombia.
