Chester Bennington committed suicide in July 2017 by hanging. This happened after the suicide of Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, with whom Bennington was friends and was even the godfather of his child. Both men struggled with depression, the result of negative childhood experiences and substance abuse. Bennington was also the victim of sexual abuse by an older friend. His parents had previously divorced.
Linkin Park Announces Six Stadium Shows. Where Will They Be Held?
Linkin Park was one of the most important bands of the first two decades of the 21st century, combining rock, rap and electronica under the banner of nu metal. They were active from 1999 to 2017. They sold 100 million records. “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora” were milestones for the younger generation.
For some time now, Bennington’s widow has been saying that she supports Linkin Park’s return, but the question was who would replace Chester. Now, the band has released its first new single in seven years and has reformed with the lineup of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Joe Hahn, drummer Colin Brittain and Emily Armstrong. “The Emptiness Machine” is announcing the album “From Zero.”
Linkin Park also announced six stadium shows, which will take place in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota.
