“Lithuania was painted black. From now on, all our municipalities are black, the last red has disappeared from our map. And that black is not just a color. It’s the worst sign of what I’ve feared the most since the pandemic began. This black means that from now on each of our municipalities is in a danger zone, often living in it – a potential victim of our enemy – Covid 19 “, – wrote R. Lingienė.
And the culprits of this tragedy, according to experts, are not an angry neighbor or an enemy from behind the lagoon, but only ourselves.
“Not only that, that black means something else, which is not talked about much yet. It is a possible paralysis of the health care system, which also means excessive deaths.
Yes, it is them. Death of all those awaiting elective surgery or other medical assistance. Unfortunately, they may not. And not because they are not worth it, but only because those who could take care of them are once again forced to stand on the front line today and fight the death-carrying enemy we have allowed ourselves into our territory, our cities, our yard or our homes. “, – the director of NVSC Vilnius department continues her recording.
R. Lingienė reminded that the virus came to us with our friends, relatives or relatives.
“After all, maybe with us, at a time when we have decided that we have the right to live more freely. Or when we believed that without washing our hands or wearing a mask once, nothing like that would happen.
Unfortunately, this happened. Lithuania is blackening.
I will just remind you that more than a year ago, with no other option, because there were no vaccines yet, we closed the cities to prevent the virus from crossing our protection zones. Upon discovering his victim, we restored her path, whereabouts, behavior, and made every effort to prevent others from becoming his victims.
And now, in despair, we can look at blackening Lithuania again and follow the reports of several dozen inhabitants of our country dying every day, to receive sad news from loved ones about another one who left too early ….
So I appeal to everyone with the biggest request – I compare our life today to life in a state of war, so we must be more understanding than ever. We must finally start acting differently. We need to change our behavior, learn to live when the virus is not somewhere, but on the doorstep of our home. We live in an environment where the enemy is not the armed forces, but a damn well-adapted virus that travels on the most diverse highways of our daily lives, from school benches, office air, store shelves, training or concert halls, supermarket carts, or gasoline taps.
This enemy is a devilish contagion that has been beating the whole world for the second year in a row, sowing death from Italy, the USA, Israel or Lithuania. But it can be overcome, as we have overcome before. Only we can and must do it ourselves. It doesn’t need guns, but it does require cold and common sense.
Therefore, I urge everyone to:
???? get vaccinated by having sex if you have not already done so for one reason or another;
???? Do not get a leg out of the house if you are not feeling well until you have received an answer to your inquiry.
???? test preventively on a regular basis and let your children do it;
???? Wear masks or FFP2 respirators correctly. Change them in time;
???? Wash or disinfect your hands frequently.
???? keep a safe distance;
???? reduce unnecessary contact with people you do not normally see;
???? if possible, work remotely for some time;
???? shop online;
???? who you have been vaccinated for, if possible, register for a booster dose of the vaccine.
The next few weeks will be extremely difficult for Lithuania. If a year ago we closed at home due to several hundred patients, today we have thousands of them a day, but for some reason we go to shops and supermarkets several times a day, often without a mask and not everyone washes their hands properly, ”Lingienė wrote.
At the end of the recording, the specialist wished Lithuanians to remain understanding and to preserve each other.
