Eintracht Frankfurt is showing a completely new face this summer of transfers. This does not surprise the attentive pursuer of Adler, because with the promotion of Ben Manga to director of professional football, Markus Krösche to the position of the sports director and Oliver Glasner as the new coach, a lot has changed on the Frankfurt executive floor.
One of the promising newcomers is the 21-year-old Dane Jesper Lindström, who was signed by Brondby IF for a rumored seven million euros. In an interview with “Bild”, the offensive all-rounder spoke about his past and the individual plans with Eintracht.
Compatriot Eriksen collapsed – a shock for Lindström
At the beginning of the European Championship, pictures went around the world that shook: The Danish international Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field and had to be reanimated in front of the cameras. For compatriot Lindström, as for everyone else, this was a terrible moment: “My brother got married that day, but we watched the game on TV. I will never forget this moment. We were all very, very quiet, shocked. ” Lindström was also surprised that the cameras were not turned off: “I was really surprised that everything was shown.” Eriksen and Lindström know each other personally, as the new eagle revealed: “I got to know him when I was allowed to play for the national team for the first time. He’s a great person and took care of me straight away. ” He also learned his lessons from the incident: life is fleeting and you have to enjoy it.
He himself suppressed thoughts that similar things could happen to him as a professional footballer. “If, as a footballer, you only think about possible injuries and accidents, then you cannot play.” Instead, you have to completely commit yourself to the matter and ignore everything else.
Lindström – the one who always laughs
Lindström describes himself as a positive and happy person. “I am someone who is always happy and likes to laugh. I have a good life so why should I be mad? Somehow I will always be that kid who laughs at everyone and thinks positively. “
According to the 21-year-old, he learned to play football in his hometown Taastrup (west of Copenhagen). His older brother was responsible for Lindström’s start playing football. “When I could run, I could play football. We went with the ball at every opportunity. ” As the smallest and youngest of the group, however, the Dane had to assert himself in his own way on the pitch, which is very convenient for him today: “It definitely helped that the others were all older because I had to be faster than them, shoot harder, dribble better. At first my brother showed me a few tricks, now he curses because I left him behind (laughs). “
For the offensive specialist, the perfect football player is a cross between Steven Gerrard and Neymar. “As a kid, I had a crush on Steven Gerrard. He’s not a gambler like me, but I like him as a person. He was a leader who must have always taken care of everyone. Someone who hugged the young players and stood by them. ” Later, Neymar was added, who has an enchanting effect on Lindström with his technique, speed and tricks. “Maybe you should connect both players, then it would be perfect! “
future plans
Despite all the self-confidence and happiness, Lindström remains realistic. In terms of tackling, he definitely has to improve in order to survive in the tough everyday life of the Bundesliga: “I’m not exactly the strongest. But I am one who runs a lot and I am fast. So I don’t have any problems with pressing, but I have to improve in the duels. “
As for his personal plans for the future, the U21 international was quite realistic: “Of course I would like to win the Champions League, like everyone else. Of course I want to be world champion like everyone else. But for me the here and now counts, I never look far into the future. I’m now playing in Frankfurt and I want to do everything I can to become a top performer. Then we will see what the future brings. “
