Lindner’s tax relief: how much money do I have left?

Finance Minister Christian Lindner promised tax cuts for 48 million citizens on Wednesday. The most important questions and answers.

Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has promised citizens relief of ten billion euros in view of the high inflation. The core of the planned Inflation Compensation Act, the cornerstones of which Lindner presented on Wednesday (10 August) in Berlin, is a tax compensation for the so-called cold progression.

The minister said that 48 million people in Germany would benefit from the relief envisaged in Christian Lindner’s plans. On average, the relief is 192 euros.

In percentage terms, low earners are relieved much more than people with a top income – but in absolute numbers it looks different. Employees with taxable income of 20,000 euros are to pay 115 euros less in taxes in the coming year.

You can see how high the relief is with higher salaries and how the reactions to Lindner’s initiative turn out in the video above. (mac/dpa)
