Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof had difficulty breathing against Norwich. That moment is really scary David De Gea.
Lindelof had to come off 16 minutes into stoppage time, in United’s 1-0 win at Norwich, after receiving treatment on the pitch.
De Gea admitted that the moment made him shocked. Moreover, it is still fresh in the memory of the situation experienced by Christian Eriksen and Sergio Aguero, who are both still sidelined due to heart problems.
“When it is known it is a matter of breathing, football or this game has lost its meaning. The main thing is life,” De Gea told Sky Sports.
“I don’t know exactly what happened, but Victor trouble with breathing. We’ve seen Eriksen, Aguero… So sometimes it’s hard to see your own team-mates having the same problem.”
“So a change is better. I hope he is fine,” said the Spanish goalkeeper.
Shortly after Lindelof was sent off, Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot to seal victory for the Red Devils.
Lindelof’s own condition was later declared to be much better. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick even mentioned his chances of playing in the next match.
“Victor can’t remember exactly how it happened,” Rangnick said Independent.
“It looks like he collided with another player and then it was difficult to breathe. For more than 10 minutes his heart rate was faster than normal and he was in a bit of a shock. So we had to replace him.”
“The doctor checked him after the game and it looks like he is fine now, but we still have to see what happens next. Hopefully he will be fit for the match against Brentford,” Rangnick said.
