Linda de Mol reacts for the first time to ‘The voice’ scandal: “I will withdraw for a while”

“Telling everything honestly and openly, that was my intention. Telling my story on my own platform. I have after yesterday (Friday, ed.) decided not to say anything more.” With these sentences, Linda de Mol gives a response on her own website for the first time, after the scandal surrounding the sexually transgressive behavior of her ex-husband Jeroen Rietbergen in The voice of holland had erupted.

She certainly had the intention to talk about it. That she is not doing that now, she points to “a handful of sensation-seeking opinion makers”, including talk show host Beau Van Erven Dorens, showbiz presenter Rob Goossens, comedian Youp van ‘t Hek. The biggest sneer is for TV columnist Angela de Jong, who she calls “sad and intensely false”. “Why the hell would I even do it?” she writes. “If everything I say is dismissed by these ‘experts’ as ‘twisting, lying, covering up, exercising power, disguising’. If even the fact that I did not tell my brother the stories of two girls who confidentially told us their sad tale about Ali B., because that was the explicit wish of the victims, is interpreted as irresponsible or not credible.”

She also repeats that before the conscious broadcast of BOOS she had no idea what her husband was up to The voice all had done. “Of course I didn’t know that. And my brother (John de Mol, ed.) spoke the full truth when he said he was aware of only one incident. The lie is with someone else, someone who turns out to have a serious addiction.”

sex addiction

Last week, reports came out that Rietbergen was struggling with a sex addiction and had traveled abroad for treatment. “That is a characteristic of addiction, namely twisting the truth, but it has been destroyed enough by now. So it seems unnecessary to throw him in front of the bus even more. I don’t like the above types to twist and pant quotes from my story and take them out of context again.”

“I will say nothing more and withdraw for the time being to finally get to the grief together with my children, who have loved their bonus father dearly. And let my family support me, because yes, we are there for each other. When I go back to work, I will only do so with lovely people. And luckily there are a lot of them, judging by the immense box of mail I receive every day.”

Her last message is for the victims: “Via LINDA. (her magazine to which she posted the full response, ed.) you can get in touch with me. I would be happy to tell you personally how sorry I am and that I would have done something about it if I had known. But I didn’t know.”

Sexual Comments and Dick Pics

In the report of BOOS it was clear that there were nineteen reports of transgressive behavior by Rietbergen. He made sexually explicit comments and sent dick pics to candidates. Two rape complaints are now against rapper Ali B. He was accused of sexual assault by various women in the report. He denies. The unknown director of The Voice of Holland has meanwhile received a complaint for assault. Marco Borsato was also mentioned in the report. Three former minors and their parents accuse him of assaulting him during The voice kids and that he was touching their buttocks and hips.
