“Telling everything honestly and openly, that was my intention. Telling my story on my own platform. I have after yesterday (Friday, ed.) decided not to say anything more.” With these sentences, Linda de Mol gives a response on her own website for the first time, after the scandal surrounding the sexually transgressive behavior of her ex-husband Jeroen Rietbergen in The voice of holland had erupted.

She certainly had the intention to talk about it. That she is not doing that now, she points to “a handful of sensation-seeking opinion makers”, including talk show host Beau Van Erven Dorens, showbiz presenter Rob Goossens, comedian Youp van ‘t Hek. The biggest sneer is for TV columnist Angela de Jong, who she calls “sad and intensely false”. “Why the hell would I even do it?” she writes. “If everything I say is dismissed by these ‘experts’ as ‘twisting, lying, covering up, exercising power, disguising’. If even the fact that I did not tell my brother the stories of two girls who confidentially told us their sad tale about Ali B., because that was the explicit wish of the victims, is interpreted as irresponsible or not credible.”
She also repeats that before the conscious broadcast of BOOS she had no idea what her husband was up to The voice all had done. “Of course I didn’t know that. And my brother (John de Mol, ed.) spoke the full truth when he said he was aware of only one incident. The lie is with someone else, someone who turns out to have a serious addiction.”
