In the evening, the representatives of Linava contacted the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) Commander of the Vilnius Border Team Darius Škarnulis informed that the capacity of the Medininkai border checkpoint had decreased compared to the situation during the day.
Representatives of the SBGS also ask carriers to choose other border crossings with, if possible Belarus checkpoints – Šalčininkai-Benjakonyj and Lavoriškės-Katlovka, where, according to the SBGS, there is currently much better throughput.
According to the association, this time the queues are formed not due to faulty IT systems, but due to the lack of responsible people at border posts who should check outgoing and arriving vehicles. Some drivers have been stuck at the border for a week, especially the difficult situation at Medininkai and Lavoriškės checkpoints.
