Lina’s Struggle Against Cancer Behind the Wanda Maximoff Costume

Jakarta

Facing cancer is not easy. Moreover, the long and full of twists and turns of the treatment process adds to the burden that cancer fighters have to bear.

Having a hobby can be a booster and a booster in the midst of battling cancer. This is what happened to Lina, a breast cancer survivor as well as a cosplayer who is a member of the Jakarta Cosplay community.

Lina was first diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 28 years old. At that time, he was accompanying his father for cancer treatment at a hospital in South Jakarta.

She admitted that it was the first time she felt a lump in her breast which finally prompted her to carry out further examinations.

“In 2020 I happened to be taking care of my father who was also sick with cancer. At that time I accidentally did BSE (Breast Self-Examination). BSE is a way for us to know if there is something in our body, especially in the breast area,” said Lina when met by detik.com at the #BeraniGundul movement event in the West Jakarta area, Sunday (26/2/2023).

“It turned out that right at that time in September, I felt there was a lump, the lump was big, more than a marble,” he continued.

After noticing a lump, Lina immediately carried out further examinations at the hospital. Initially, he was diagnosed with a tumor and directed to immediately carry out surgery to remove the tumor.

However, considering the history of cancer in her family, Lina decided to have another examination at a different hospital.

“Because I saw my father had cancer, my grandmother had cancer, so I have cancer blood derivatives. So I thought I needed comparisons from other hospitals,” said Lina.

After undergoing examination at another hospital, he was called to have a benign tumor and immediately underwent surgery to remove the tumor. However, two days after the operation, reality said otherwise. She was declared to have stage two breast cancer.

Knowing this, even though he was devastated, the first thing on his mind was to immediately take medical action. He decided to undergo chemotherapy and radiology treatment in order to get cured.
