Lina Vasilievna lives in the capital, but her apartment is not an indicator of luxury, but the apartment is large.

The furniture is wooden, and it is clear that it is far from new, but its cabinets are filled with books, portraits and various figurines.

It is also impossible not to notice that there are many paintings and portraits hanging on the ordinary walls in the poetess’s apartment. Certificates, awards and photographs of equally outstanding Ukrainians take up a lot of space in one of Lina Kostenko’s rooms.

And on her table there were sets and dishes, and it was this table that the woman set for special guests.

In general, the writer’s apartment looks like a place of memory of her creative and social achievements and successes, thanks to which she became an outstanding Ukrainian.

Lina Vasilievna is a heroic woman, she is not just a Ukrainian poet of the sixties and writer, but also a dissident, laureate of the Shevchenko Prize, the Antonovich Prize, the Order of the Legion of Honor, and from now on also the holder of the honorary title of citizen of Kyiv, which was knocked out for her for a whole year.

Her work inspires young people, and this can truly be considered a success, because Kostenko is one of the few poets whose poems are recited by artists, young writers and actors.

Lina knows how to inspire and her every public speech brings you to tears, because her words are always wise and deep.

But in recent years, Kostenko very rarely goes out in public, according to her relatives, this is because of her fruitful work. But it is no longer possible to see Lina Vasilievna at various city events.

The writer also rarely receives guests in her home, only on important occasions. For example, on March 19, on her birthday, workers from a Kyiv publishing house visited her with gifts.

But now Lina Vasilievna hosted Vitali Klitschko and Valery Zaluzhny on a very important occasion – receiving city awards.

Why Kostenko and Zaluzhny received the title

During a meeting with prominent personalities, the mayor emphasized that Lina Vasilievna for many years “personifies the inflexibility and free and talented soul of Ukrainians,” as well as the spirit of freedom and courage.

Valery Fedorovich was noted “for his personal services during the defense of the capital and in defending state sovereignty and freedom of Ukraine.”
