"Lin Yunru and Zhuang Zhiyuan Progress to Men's Doubles Top 4 at Billiards/WTT Singapore Grand Slam"

Lin Yunru, Taiwan’s top billiard player, and Zhuang Zhiyuan, the “godfather of billiards”, withstood the pressure at the critical moment of the WTT Singapore Grand Slam men’s doubles final match today, repelling the opponent’s final point and defeating Poland’s Dias and 3-2 Nutinck of Belgium advanced to the semi-finals.

The World Table Tennis Professional League (WTT) Grand Slam was held in Singapore. After all Taiwanese players were eliminated in singles, the women’s doubles team also stopped in the top 16, while the mixed doubles team Lin Yunru and Chen Siyu were eliminated in the top 4. Lin Yunru and Zhuang Zhiyuan, a cross-generational men’s doubles combination, have become the last hope of Taiwan generals.

The Hangzhou Asian Games will be staged in September. In order to form the strongest men’s doubles team in Taiwan, 21-year-old Lin Yunru and 41-year-old Zhuang Zhiyuan combined for the first time. This time, they only lost 1 game in the first 2 rounds of the men’s doubles and swept them in straight sets. World No. 2 Swedish pair Kristian Karlsson and Mattias Falck broke into the quarterfinals.

Lin Yunru and Zhuang Zhiyuan faced the European alliance of the world’s No. 40 Jakub Dyjas of Poland and Cedric Nuytinck of Belgium today. The fight was not easy. After winning the first game 11-9, In the second game, they led 10-6. When they were about to win the game, they were equalized by their opponents and took the lead. The Taiwanese team gave up 13-15.

In the third game, the Taiwan team went from falling behind 0-3 to leading by 4 points in a row. Then they were pulled out by their opponents for a 5-0 offensive. The Taiwan team was unable to catch up and lost another game 6-11.
