Vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 1 Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) said that he and Anies had limited campaign funds for the 2024 presidential election. Cak Imin said there was a theory he had heard that AMIN supporters from the Nahdatul Ulama (NU) were being evacuated.
This was conveyed by Cak Imin at the 12th KH Haul event. Ahmad Sufyan Miftahul Arifin at the Manba’ul Hikam Islamic Boarding School, Situbondo, East Java. He said that Nahdatul Ulama (NU) actually had unified strength.
“If we lack funds, it’s actually a secret. But because it’s been revealed, I’ll tell you. All NU forces are actually united,” said Cak Imin in his speech, Thursday (28/12/2023).
“But because they knew they had limited funds, there were Kiai who were ganged up on by giving money,” he said.
Cak Imin said he had visited the Kiai but did not force him to support AMIN. However, he actually found out that there were several NU Kiai whose voices had been silenced from supporting him and Anies Baswedan.
“I also visited them, but we were not allowed to be banned, they were not told to carry out their campaign. I just found out that the theory is that all AMIN supporters from NU circles have been evacuated. It’s okay not to support others. The important thing is not to speak out, not to support AMIN,” he said.
On that occasion, Anies also said that he was a presidential candidate who had ‘knees’. This means he goes directly into the community without prioritizing the installation of billboards and other logistical activities.
“Those who have a lot of money don’t go around, Sir. It’s the billboards that go around. The billboards are everywhere, the people are not everywhere,” said Anies, who was greeted with laughter from the congregation.
“But if the billboards are not everywhere and the people are everywhere,” he said.
He said AMIN was in the second category. Even if there are billboards, he said, they are purely from the grassroots who support his party.
“So we are in the second group. The ones who go around a lot but don’t have enough billboards. And even if a lot of billboards are put up, the billboards are unique. The photo looks like Anies and Muhaimin,” said Anies.
“Why? Because it is made independently, independently, independently. The colors are different. If the color is the same, that means it was made from Jakarta. But if the color is different, each village makes it themselves,” he continued.
