Dhe Israeli military has made another limited tank advance in the north of the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by the Islamist Hamas. The army announced on Thursday morning that “numerous terrorists, terrorist infrastructure and launch pads for anti-tank missiles” were tracked down and attacked during the night.

After the advance was over, the soldiers left the area again. It was part of the preparations “for the next phases of the fight,” it said. Israel’s military has already made several limited forays into the Gaza Strip in the past two and a half weeks. They are seen as preparation for a planned Israeli ground offensive.

On Thursday night, Israeli army radio had already reported a relatively large incursion by Israeli ground troops into the Gaza Strip. This was used to attack Hamas positions. The report said the raid was larger than previous ones since the war began on October 7.
