The Bulgarian-Mexican film “Límite” by the native-born director, screenwriter and producer Georgi Nikolas will have its premiere in Sofia on May 11 at the House of Cinema, reports BTA.
The event is within the framework of the National Festival of Bulgarian Cinema, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers.
The tape comes to our country after participating in festivals in the USA and Cuba.
The story is based on a real case and tells about the tragic fate of a 16-year-old boy from an exemplary family in Tijuana, who finds himself in an unenviable situation on the Mexican-American border.
“Limit” is my creative reaction to a real event. Although it takes place in Mexico, the situation can be fully associated with the Bulgarian reality. When I read the news, I thought how could a good boy end up so badly.
The story touched me mostly because this boy, in another life, could have been me,” says Georgi Nikolas.
The 38-minute film was shot on tape, among real locations in Tijuana with Mexican actors, and the use of a bright color palette and Super 16mm format contributes to its artistic appearance.
Georgi Nikolas has been living and creating in Los Angeles for years, together with Elitsa Boneva – an actress known from the series “Undercover” and “SWAT”.
