The Limburg Water Board has rewritten and deleted passages from reports of the crisis consultation during the high water in July 2021, before they were published with the daily newspaper. The Limburger were shared. That is what the newspaper reports today.
These are reports of meetings of the crisis team that met several times a day during the high water to discuss the situation. De Limburger investigative journalists are in possession of both the original reports and the rewritten version.
According to the newspaper, a comparison shows that dozens of changes have been made. This includes sensitive information about flood defenses that are not high enough and criticism of a manager who has made incorrect forecasts about the water level in the media.
The water board denies to the newspaper that the reports have been deliberately manipulated to prevent loss of image. The order to remove privacy-sensitive information has just been handled too broadly, says secretary-director Erik Keulers.
