Limburg recreation area Wilhelminaberg closed due to crowds NOW

The Wilhelminaberg recreation area will be closed indefinitely from Sunday morning because too many visitors came to it despite the measures taken against the corona virus, the South Limburg Safety Region reports on the website.

“With these numbers of visitors, it is not possible to keep a safe distance from each other,” said the Safety Region.

The Security Region says that despite the “repeated repetition of the measures against the spread of the coronavirus”, there are still too many recreationists and athletes on and around the Wilhelminaberg.

The police will maintain around the former stone mountain of the Wilhelmina Mine. A fine of 390 euros is imposed for violations.

The area has been closed on the basis of the emergency ordinance that has been in force since March 27 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The coronavirus in short

  • The coronavirus mainly spreads from person to person via sneezing and cough drops. The chance of becoming infected through surfaces such as door handles is small. This chance decreases if you wash your hands often.
  • You can considerably reduce the chance of spreading by keeping at least 1.5 meters away from others.
  • An infected person infects two to three others on average. Precautions are necessary to contain this.
  • The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
  • Almost all deaths involve the elderly or other vulnerable persons, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
