The measures to contain the corona crisis also played tricks on the organizers of World Diabetes Day. Nevertheless, the Limburg departments of the Diabetes Liga are not stuck.

“Normally we organize numerous initiatives around World Diabetes Day to inform and raise awareness among the population,” say Roger Nickmans, chairman of the Diabetes Liga Midden Limburg and provincial coordinator Albert Schrooten. “Today, that is still more than necessary: after all, there are still many persistent misunderstandings about diabetes. In other years, we will be present in all Belgian hospitals on World Diabetes Day with an information booth to inform the public with first-hand testimonials and hand out information leaflets. But that is not possible now. Also the many traditional walks cannot take place this year. ”
Digital
The six Limburg departments of the Diabetes Liga are therefore going completely digital. “Each department presents an online lecture on diabetes,” continues Albert Schrooten, chairman of the Limburg Diabetes Liga. “Among other things, attention is paid to the – delicious – cooking for diabetics and we provide information to parents of children with diabetes.
