The course of the match Southampton vs Tottenham

Southampton almost scored a goal in the third minute had Che Adams’ shot not hit and wide of Tottenham’s goal.

Not many opportunities were created by both teams in the first half because the match was relatively flat. In the 19th minute, Eric Dier’s header continued Dejan Kulusevski’s cross still sideways.

The deadlock was only broken during first half injury time, precisely in the 46th minute. Son Heung-min moved from the left side and then moved the ball to the right side.

There was Pedro Porro who controlled it for a moment before shooting into the top corner after hitting the bar. Score 1-0 lasted until halftime.

Tottenham’s advantage did not last long in the second half, because a minute after the break, Southampton leveled the score 1-1. Walcott sent a cross which Che Adams leaked into the corner of Fraser Forster’s goal.

The goal actually made Tottenham more eager to attack the Southampton defense. Kane restored Tottenham’s lead in the 65th minute when Kulusevski’s cross was headed into the top corner.

Ivan Perisic put Tottenham’s lead wide in the 74th minute to score his first goal for the club. Perisic latched on to a loose ball headed by a Southampton player, volleyed with his left foot and bounced off the ground to find Bazunu’s net.

Tottenham even relaxed the pressure after winning 3-1 which saw Southampton cut the deficit to one goal in the 77th minute.

Southampton corner could not be driven perfectly by Tottenham’s rearguard. Seikou Mara headed James Ward-Prowse’s cross in front of goal and Walcott quickly turned it in.

Tottenham’s victory finally broke up in the 91st minute after Southampton received a penalty because Malang Sarr brought down Ainsley Maitland-Niles. James Ward-Prowse calmly directed the ball into the top left corner of Forster’s goal.
