Lily Collins’ wedding band and engagement ring, both of which hold significant sentimental value, have been stolen. The Emily in Paris star received a rose-cut morganite engagement ring from her fiancé, Charlie McDowell, in September of 2020. Following their wedding the following year, Collins added an additional band to her collection. The stolen items were reported to have cost over $10,000. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the robbery and reviewing the hotel’s security footage for more details.
The unique ring was designed by Charlie McDowell along with jeweler Irene Neuwirth and features a rose-cut morganite center stone in a diamond halo with a brushed gold setting. The stone’s flat cut makes it appear larger than traditional modern diamonds, and it also has an exceptional light pink color, which makes it particularly rare. Andrew Brown, CEO of WP Diamonds, estimated the sparkler to be around two to three carats and worth approximately $4,000.
Collins first revealed her engagement on Instagram with a series of photos, including one where McDowell proposes while they are in a desert setting. The final photo showcases the ring. The couple tied the knot in September of 2021 at Dunton Hot Springs in Colorado, with Collins wearing an A-line wedding dress with a lace mock neck and long sleeves, paired with a lace-embroidered hood instead of the traditional veil. McDowell wore a velvet tuxedo for the occasion.
Their wedding planner, Elsa Jagniecki of Heirlooms Designs, decorated the space with vintage furniture, china, suitcases, and handpicked flowers that evoked a rustic, cottagecore vibe. Collins shared a photo of their altar on her social media, which was captured by photographer Cedar & Pines.
Collins shared the news of their marriage on Instagram with a photo of their altar and a caption expressing her love for McDowell. The stolen rings, which hold significant sentimental value, are currently under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
