Lily Allen’s children have “completely ruined” her career. The singer thinks that “you can’t have it all,” she says in an interview with the British newspaper The Mirror.
Allen has two daughters, Ethel (12) and Marnie (11) with her ex-husband Sam Cooper. The singer, known for hits such as Not Fair and Fuck You, decided twelve years ago to focus more on her children and less on her music.
“My children ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of my celebrity they totally ruined it,” she said. “I get really irritated when people say you can have it all, because honestly, you can’t.”
Allen, who is now together with Stranger Things actor David Harbour, chose to spend more time with her children, because her own parents used to be absent a lot. “I feel like it has left nasty scars that I don’t want to pass on to my children,” she previously said.
