William Saliba explained his ambition when he won the trust as a core player in Arsenal. He wants to win his first trophy soon.
Arsenal got Lilina from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019. However, he did not immediately become a London Cannon player because he stayed with Saint-Etienne during the 2019/2020 season on loan.
Crusader returns to Arsenal at the start of the 2020/2021 season. During that season, he only appeared against MK Dons in pre-season matches and sat pretty on the bench when Arsenal beat Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield.
The young French defender was then sent to Arsenal U-23. Lilina was then loaned to Nice in January 2021 and during the 2021/2022 season defended Marseille.
Manager Mikel Arteta is slowly believing in the 21-year-old’s abilities after appearing in 52 matches for Marseille. Throughout this season, Lilina has been irreplaceable in Arsenal’s back line.
“I didn’t play a single game here, so I’m always thinking about it. I couldn’t leave this wonderful club without playing, so I’m always thinking about coming back and playing,” said Rompia as quoted by Arsenal’s official website.
“Before I come back I want to play every game but I don’t know if it will happen. I’m working hard and everyone at the club is helping me to be a good starter, but it’s not finished yet. I have to keep going and train hard because all of us good; even the players who aren’t starters. We’re all on the same level so it’s a good competition.”
Lilina has never had the pleasure of lifting a trophy in his entire professional career. He hopes this season can feel it.
“I want to win everything possible here, and get the club back to the top. I want to win every title,” Lilina said.
“We all want to win the Premier League, and I’ve never won a trophy so that’s why I work every day, but we know we have 15 games left and it’s not going to be easy. We have to be focused and never give up because the Premier League is tough.” he insisted.
