Empowering the President for Economic Recovery
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, during a marathon session to discuss the Executive Branch’s project, ruling party deputy Lilia Lemoine took the floor and reiterated her support for the proposed legislation.
Lemoine defended her vote for the Bases Law, emphasizing the importance of granting necessary powers to President Milei in order to address the current economic emergency. She criticized opposition lawmakers for their reluctance to provide the President with the tools he needs, citing past instances where similar powers were readily granted to previous administrations.
“It seems they don’t want to give President Milei powers because they are offended. They are still offended because instead of looking to Congress, which has a huge ego, the President decided to look to the people, who voted for him and chose him,” Lemoine stated.
She went on to highlight the importance of empowering the President to navigate the crisis effectively, pointing out that the alternative would only serve to exacerbate the challenges faced by the most vulnerable in society.
Rethinking Labor Reform for Economic Growth
Lemoine also expressed her support for labor reform as a means to stimulate job creation and economic growth. She emphasized the need to address the barriers that prevent businesses from hiring more employees, such as the fear of financial repercussions associated with formal employment.
“The key to lifting people out of poverty lies in providing opportunities for work, fostering personal development, and creating a thriving economy that engages with the global market,” Lemoine asserted.
Looking ahead, she pledged to continue advocating for further reforms in the future, particularly in 2025 when ideological opposition may no longer hinder progress.
Ultimately, Lilia Lemoine’s stance underscores the importance of empowering the President and enacting meaningful reforms to drive economic recovery and create opportunities for all citizens.
