Lili Reinhart (28) recently spoke out about her years of experience with acne. The actress is known for her role as Betty Cooper in the popular series “Riverdale”. At the launch of her new skincare brand, Personal Day, in West Hollywood, she told People Magazinethat living with acne in the film and television industry can often be isolating. “I felt like I had to hide”said the actress, describing the shame she felt in her youth. The 28-year-old hopes to help others struggling with similar issues by openly discussing acne.
Lili reported that she has suffered from acne since she was twelve years old and that this has caused significant psychological distress. She stressed how important it is to her to continue the conversation about skin conditions and encourage more celebrities to speak openly about it. Her own experiences inspired her to develop a skin care brand without harmful ingredients. With “Personal Day” she says she has developed products that aim to heal the skin over time and not just “repair” it. The brand was developed with a mental health specialist and her personal beautician to better understand the psychological impact of the skin condition.
Lili spoke in an interview back in 2018 Glamour about her struggles with acne and how they have led to a form of body dysmorphia – a disorder of perception of one’s own body. At that time she found support from the singer Lorde (28), who also suffers from chronic acne. “She texted me, ‘Girl, I understand you. I’m totally on the same page as you,'” Lili said. These words would have given her comfort and motivated her to encourage other fellow sufferers. With her new skincare brand, she hopes to make teenagers and adults feel like they live in a world that is more accepting of visible problems. She recently shared that she is also suffering from hair loss.
